The road home

'My ship's at anchor
my bags are packed
got a one way ticket
ain't comming back'
(Robbie Robertson~The Band)
Well, not at anchor exactly, and I am coming back, eventually, but you know what I mean. It's that one day of the trip all sailors long for. Pay off day.

Out the back door

past the cruise ships
and the big mouth

.........to the home of happy people.

So I guess that second photo is your "office"? The "big mouth" shot looks to be an amusement park, no? That entrance would be enough to give a kid nightmares. And at home, what is all the little pipes and tubes on the roofline of the house? It looks like a mini weather station with an array of rain and wind gauges.

G'day Captain Sinbad and You OTL.You're right,it is an amusement park. Slightly run down, called 'Luna Park'.

That's an interesting comment about the roof of our house.I had never noticed! The roof is corrugated iron and those little upright pipes are actually mobile phone tx/rx arials on the roof of the National Theatre 2 blocks back.

cheers,

ian

..and I should mention that it was designed and built in 1912 by the folks who built the Coney Island amusement park. It is the only remaining roller coaster in the world with carriages controlled by brakemen/women. (so they say)

cheers,

ian

I love this post! It made me very happy when I read it while i was on the road. I love the shots of the bullitt - it looks so naughty next to those huge trucks and that huge opening. Happy life MR Slow RPM

Why thankyou,Ms Herder of Ducks. There really is no better sound than the pitter patter of (not so)tiny feet and paws, particularly after 4 weeks on Bass Strait in the early winter.
