I'll use any excuse for a bike trip up north. People say that the Yarra river is the main north/south divide in Melbourne. In reality,it's the lack of a safe cycle route that is the barrier. If you are prepared to take a few back steet detours your efforts will be richly rewarded.
Graffiti that doesn't make your blood boil.
Even the architecture seems better, up north.(I think?)
Having spent most of my working life at sea, as a sailor in the merchant marine,I now work ashore as a land lubber. My job as a cargo super involves a company car and a small amount of driving around, which I try to keep to a minimum.
I've always loved that old Yiddish expression' to schlepp' . I seem to spend half of my life schlepping stuff from point A to point B on a bike, so this is my view of the world from the saddle.
