I saw these signs all over Shinjuku. At first,I thought they read 'pedestrians, watch out for cranky middle aged blokes on bikes'. However, I've since learned that the correct translation reads,'cyclists ,go along with attention to pedestrians'
Cycling on the footpath is perfectly legal in Japan. The citizens of Tokyo seem to have an in-built ,early detection system, and everyone manages to stay out of each other's way.But here's a funny thing. We found ourselves constantly getting in the way of cyclists. They politely tolerated us,clumsy gaijin that we were.
